Volunteering is an important part of my life. In addition to giving back to my community and advocating for the causes that are important to me, one of my favorite parts about volunteering is picking up new skills to incorporate into my professional life. I also really enjoy the opportunities volunteering provides to meet and interact with new people.
This page includes information about the different non-profit groups I volunteer with and the services I provide through them.

Stonewall Sports - Philadelphia
Stonewall Sports - Philadelphia is a recreational sports league that also supports educational and social initiatives within the LGBTQIA+ community in Philadelphia. I serve on the Stonewall Philly Board of Directors as the Education Director, and in my role I work with the Stonewall Philly Education Committee to develop resources for Stonewall members in support of community health and wellness. Some of our programming includes distribution of a regular newsletter, hosting virtual and in-person events such as trivia, and supporting the Stonewall mission of providing a safe space for LGBTQIA+ individuals to develop themselves mentally, emotionally, physically, and socially.
In addition to my work with the education committee, I also oversee Stonewall Philly's yoga league (which has gone fully virtual in light of COVID-19!).
If you're interested in learning more about the committee's work, or more about Stonewall Philly, check out their website. If you are a certified yoga instructor and interested in sharing your practice with our community, please contact me directly at this e-mail.

Action Wellness Buddy Program
Action Wellness is a non-profit medical case management agency based in Philadelphia and specifically serves chronically ill residents of the city, many of whom are people of color, identify as LGBTQ+, and come from low-income backgrounds. Individuals confronting chronic illnesses can potentially withdraw from society and become emotionally isolated - a dangerous consequence for one's health and wellness and therefore an additional challenge to successful medical case management. To counter the negative effects of emotional isolation, Action Wellness operates a "Buddy Program" that pairs volunteers with clients in an effort to mitigate the negative impacts of social isolation.
Through the Buddy Program, I partner with clients of the agency and provide them with emotional support - through phone calls, visits, or walks through the City. In addition to working directly with clients, I also serve as a trainer for new volunteers and facilitate Buddy Trainings that are held every other month at the agency's headquarters in Philadelphia.
If you're interested in joining Action Wellness as a Buddy or volunteering in another capacity, check out their website for more information.
